Trumpet or Alto Saxophone for female?
Hello! I'm 16, female. I've been playing the french horn for 6 years and trumpet for 2 years. I switched to the trumpet mainly because I prefer it more than the french horn. But I've never regret learning the french horn because many people say that I will benefit a lot if I change to the trumpet, in terms of embouchure.
I've been thinking of whether to continue with the trumpet or to pick up the saxophone. I've tried the alto sax for a day, and I can easily play the Bb major scale with it.
I personally like classics and love jazz. I feel that the alto sax is better for jazz. I'm thinking of joining a band again when I get posted to my new school. I'm also intending to play alone at home for fun. I heard that it is much more fun to play the sax alone. Am I right to say that? The trumpet is more of a band instrument right?
So... I want to ask whether people prefer girls to play the trumpet or alto sax?
I can't decide which instrument I love. I know that sex doesn't matter. By my dad always complain that a girl on the trumpet is too hard up. But I disagree with him.
